Mrs. Mary Boyanton Coulter Passes

Mrs. Mary Coulter passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Brinson, early Wednesday morning, February 26th, following an attack of pneumonia. She had been in feeble health for several years, and her strength had become so depleted she was unable to combat the ravages of disease, and lived only a few days after being stricken. Everything possible that loving hands could do was done to bring her through the crisis, but she failed to respond to treatment.

Mrs. Coulter was 79 years of age and was the former Miss Mary Boyanton. She was born and spent her entire life in Jeff Davis county, in the very same community in which she died. For the past seventeen years she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Brinson. She was a member of the Whitesand Baptist Church, and was a devout Christian, living her religion every day of her life. Through sunshine and shadow, her great faith and trust in her Maker was her source of strength and the secret of her victorious life.

Funeral services were held from Whitesand Church at 3:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon with her former pastor, Rev. Joe W. Hudson of Bassfield in charge, assisted by Dr. W. L. Sewell and Rev. G. Eliot Jones. Interment was made in the church cemetery with Aultman-Saulters Funeral Home in charge.

Active pall bearers were Ray Stamps, Vernon Coulter, R. A. Coulter, Cecil Brinson, Henry Smith and Milford Coulter. Honorary bearers were Bud Bridges, C. R. Lee, Oscar Garner, Cowsert Dale, Bond Dale, T. B. Slater, S. S. Polk, Jim McNease and J. C. Lane.

Immediate survivors are her sons and daughters: Wiley Coulter, Shelby Coulter, Reggie Coulter, Mrs. John B. Stamps and Mrs. Claude Brinson, Prentiss; Roscoe Coulter, Marshall, Texas. Twenty-four grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.
