Mattingly, Avonelle, 85, formerly of Louisville, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 in Bowling Green, KY. She was born in Grayson County (birth index shows Muhlenburg) on October 26, 1924 to Esther and Chester Davis and married Argus Mattingly in 1945. She lived in Louisville for 56 years and managed FeMatt Crafts for many years. She was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. Avonelle was preceded in death by her son Garry Davis Mattingly of Scottsville, KY; and two brothers, Bernard Davis and Cofer Davis. She is survived by her children, Larry Gene Mattingly and wife Dorinda of Terra Alta, West Virginia, Brenda Mattingly Felts and husband Larry Wayne of Bowling Green, KY, Joyce Mattingly Gordy and husband Wynn of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Derrett of Louisville; one brother Alvin Davis of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Service will be noon on Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
