Maria Antonieta Benavides L.C.M. passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Torrance.


She was born February 16, 1917 to Jose and Maria (Casares) Benavides in Buenos Aires, Argentina.


She entered the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary on January 2, 1950 and professed her final vows on December 15, 1955. She came to the United States in March 1976, where she continued her ministry to the sick and the dying at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance and at Providence Little Company of Mary San Pedro.


Sr. Maria Antonieta was especially well known and loved among the Spanish speaking community. Sr. Maria Antonieta is survived by the members of her religious community- the Little Company of Mary Sisters, her many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.


A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 3:30 until 9:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held in the Centofante Family Chapel at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital, 4101 Torrance Boulevard, Torrance, CA.
Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City , CA.
