Mellie Mae Smith, 80, of the 900 block of Coachman Court, died March 15, 1992, in her home.

Mrs. Smith was born in Mount Airy, N.C. She was the widow of Elson Guy Smith Sr. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Doris S. Lee of Virginia Beach, Audrey F. Smith of Chesapeake and Linda Lovelette of Chicago; a son, Elson G. Smith Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Dorothy Lane of Chesterfield County and Lela Critcher of Chester; a brother, John N. Owens of Richmond; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Tabernacle Baptist Church by the Rev. Rodney Bell. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Maury Cemetery, Richmond. Friends may join the family from 8 to 9 p.m today in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, and at 5301 Sherluck Road.
