Tressie Maye Berry, 83, of Melrose, New Mexico, died Monday, August 2, 2010, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was born January 30, 1927, in Melrose to James "Tee" and Ruby McDaniel Berry.

She grew up and went to school in the Field Community and moved to Melrose in 1954. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Retirement Ranch in Clovis. Tressie and her sister, Elsie, babysat for many families in the Melrose Community. She loved to make quilts. She was a member of Melrose Church of Christ.

She is survived by 1 sister, Beatrice Hunt of Melrose; nephews, Coy Hunt (Gail) of Alamogordo, New Mexico and Bill Hancock (Lisa) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; niece, Jean Jackson (Rick) of Hereford, Texas; aunt, Lee McDaniel of Clovis, New Mexico and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Oletta Hancock and Elsie Berry; 1 brother-in-law, Spider Hunt and 1 nephew, Doyle Hunt.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Melrose Church of Christ with Otho Rogers and Grady Bright officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Derek Hunt, Darin Hunt, David Hunt, Rick Jackson, Bill Hancock, Russell Wheeler, Larry DeVaney, Barry Allen, Dennis Dodd, Keith Corbin, Tyler Corbin, and Alex Wheeler.
