OBITUARY :
CHARLES GORDON CHOP, 44, a native of Hagerstown, died recently at his home, 1754 Sharondale Drive, Clearwater, Fla.; of a heart attack while he was asleep. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Chop, formerly of Hagerstown.

Born in Hagerstown, Chop attended Hagerstown High School, enlisting into the U.S. Army in 1937. Later, he enlisted in the Air Corps. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theater and in the Alutian Islands.

He was stationed in Texas, California and went into recruiting duty in Topeka, Kansas, Moorefield, W.Va., and this city.

He was stationed in Germany then and later moved to Louisiana until he retired in 1959, due to a permanent physical disability incurred in the line of duty. He made his home in Clearwater thereafter, until the time of his death.

Chop was a graduate of the U.S.A.F.N.C. Officers Academy, Barksdale Field, La. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and a charter member of Lodge 12, F and AM, Emporia, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Mary B. Chop; three daughters, Miss Diane M. Chop, Seattle; Miss Charla G. Chop; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Chop, all of Clearwater, Fla.

He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myers, Va., last week.
