Charles D. Kafader, 89 died Tuesday after a year's illness. He had been hospitalized for two months.

Born September 3, 1863, at Applegate, he had lived for 36 years at Fort Bidwell, California, where he was a clerk at the A.C. Lowell gracoery store. In June 1897, he was married there to Julia Phillips who lives at the family home, 115 I Street, North Lakeview.

From 1931 for 11 years he owned a general store at Warner Valley and operated the post office. He retired in 1942 and moved to Lakeview. For over 10 years he has been a member of the Elks Lodge at Lakeview, and he had been a member of the Masonic Lodge at Fort Bidwell for 57 years.

In addition to the widow, survivors include a sister, Mrs. Vinnie R. Schlader of Klamath Falls, two brothers, Henry and Edward L. of Lakeview; two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two sons predeceased him.

Pallbearers will be Hugh Cahill, Charlie Crump, Con J. Murphy, Howard Nelson and Earl Wakefield, all of Warner Valley and Stephen Moss of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
