WOODBURN, ORE. -- Bernard Franklin Powell, 66, died Friday (June 28, 1991) at a Salem Hospital. He was born (near) Elsie, (in Chase Co.,) Nebr., and moved to the Salem area in 1955.

On Sept. 28, 1942, he married Elva Hixon in Imperial, Nebr.

He was a veteran of World War II, and worked as a group life supervisor at the MacLaren School for 30 years. He attended the Church of Christ, Woodburn.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Richard Bernard and Daniel W., both of Salem; daughter, Terry L. McKay of Keizer; brothers, Myron A. of Boise, Idaho, and Dale D. of Aumsville, Ore.; sisters, Beulah F. Brown and Joyce E. Brown, both of Salem, Fauneil R. Harrison of Sheridan, Wyoming., and Vonda Fletcher of Bothell, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Cornwell Mortuary, Woodburn. Visiting will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today. Interment will be in Belcrest Memorial Park, Salem. [Jeri Herbert, 2013]
