Gerald Morse joined President Roosevelt's new Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930's. He joined the Army (Air Force) directly from the CCC's. He retired from the US Air Force 16 Jul 1961 as a Master Sergeant at Rhein/Main Air Base, Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

He remained in Germany with his wife and son, living at Herrman Miller Str., 52, Burghausen, Oberbayern, Germany, where he drew a USAF pension. He died 29 Apr 1962 at the Bowling Alley, Rhein/Main Air Base, cause: suspected massive myocrdial infarction (heart attack).

His body was returned to the United States and he was buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. (per U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca 1775-2006)
