The son of Gen. Gold Selleck & Martha (Davenport) Silliman, he married (1) Ann Allen on Sept. 22, 1774, and (2) Phebe Jennings on Dec. 7, 1780.

From "Ye OLD BURYING GROUND OF FAIRFIELD, CONN." by Mrs. Kate Perry, p. 136: William was sick with fever and ague when he was captured by the British with his father and they were taken to Long Island as prisoners where they remained for several months before they were exchanged.

According to "The Way of Duty" by Joy Day Buel and Richard Buel, Jr, William "Billy" Silliman likely died of Typhoid in the year 1816, along with his wife Phoebe while migrating to Indiana.
