Mrs. Felix had spent the day at the Kaufman cottage of Lake Shafer with part of her family and was on her return trip to her husband and home in Lafayette when the accident occurred.

The following account is from the Logansport Press.

Mrs. Linda Lou (Leavitt) Felix, 21, daughter of State Detective Sgt. and Mrs. Bernard Leavitt, of Northern avenue, city, was fatally injured in an auto collision at 6:15 p.m. Thursday three miles east of Brookston on state road 18.

Mrs. Felix, who had resided at 16 Vernon Lane, Lafayette, since her marriage March 7 to Robert Felix, suffered a skull fracture in the crash and died enroute to the St. Elizabeth hospital , Lafayette, in the Thursday three miles east of Brookston.

Mrs. Felix was widely known as an outstanding equestrienne. She had won many awards for her expert horsemanship and was a member and past president of the Bridge City Saddle Club.

Linda Lou was born Nov. 24, 1936, at Brook, but most of her life was spent in Logansport, her father having been stationed here as a state trooper until his promotion to technician and later to detective sergeant.

A 1954 graduate of Logansport high school, she also was a graduate of the Wedekind Beauty college and had been employed at Wilma's Beauty shop until her marriage. She attended the Trinity Methodist church at Lafayette and Logansport.

Linda Lou Leavitt and Robert Felix were married March 7th, 1958 and were living in their new home at Lafayette.

The body laid in state at the Hippensteel funeral home in Lafayette, Saturday afternoon and evening and at the McCloskey-Hamilton funeral home in Logansport, on Sunday where hundreds of friends called.
