James Albert O'Hair passed away quietly Saturday, April 10, 2004, at the age of 81, in Charleston, S.C. Graveside Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 9 o'clock at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kosair Crippled Children's Hospital, 231 East Chestnut, Louisville, Ky. 40202. James was born January 22, 1923, in Fairbault, MN, son of the late James Wellington O'Hair and Adeline Weigum O'Hair. He attended the University of Louisville. He was a Mason and a member of the Military Officers Association and Woodman of the World. He served in the United States Army in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War and retired after more than 20 years of honorable service in 1968 to live in the area near Fort Knox where he remained until moving to Charleston in 1980. He was Protestant. Surviving are: his beloved wife of 59 years, Vicky O'Hair of Charleston; brothers, Allyn O'Hair and Walter O'Hair both of Livingston, Montana; daughter, Patricia O'Hair of Columbus, Ga.; son-in-law, Thomas McNerney of Columbus, Ga.; grandchildren, Tarra Bopp of Atlanta, Ga., Teague Laguens of Waldorf, Maryland, Stephanie McNerney of Columbus, Ga., Victoria McNerney of Athens, Ga.
