Augusta (Jackson) Ashby
Augusta (Jackson) Ashby, 97, of Sebree, died at 10:50 a.m. Sunday at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville.
She was born in Onton in 1892, the daughter of the late Pete and Elizabeth Jackson, former Hopkins County residents. She was the widow of the former state representative, Milton Ashby. She was a retired Webster County schoolteacher and a member of the Sebree Christian Church, yhere she served as Sunday School Superintendent for 10 years, and president of the Ladies Missionary Club.
Her husband, Milton, was also the former postmaster at Sebree, where he served in that position for 30 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harold Streets, Central City; three sons, Charles and Frank Ashby, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Wendell Ashby of Sebree.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. from Sebree Christian Church with Rev. Grant Berry and Bro. B.F. Major officiating. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.
Friends may call until service time at Tompkins and Son Sebree Chapel.
