DOROTHY (GORTON) CLEVENGER
CLEVENGER Dorothy Mae (Gorton) Clevenger, 86, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away March 6, 2010. She was born on December 31, 1923 in Lake City, Iowa to Glenn and Anna Gorton. She was raised in Lohrville, Iowa and moved to Excelsior Springs, Missouri in 1946. She married George B. Clevenger on August 1, 1946 and then resided in Liberty, Missouri. Mrs. Clevenger worked at the Safeway Store, Mattingly's 5 and 10 Cent Store, and Hallmark, all in Liberty. She enjoyed watching the TV shows "Let's Make A Deal" and "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader". She enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Clevenger had a passion for playing cards and tremendously enjoyed playing Pitch on Friday nights at the Landmark Towers with her friends. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Liberty, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a son, Richard. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Richard Gorton and a sister, Marita (Rita) Baty. Mrs. Clevenger is survived by sons, Dennis (Patty) Clevenger of Kearney, Missouri, and David (Denise) Clevenger of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Marjorie Condon of Garland, Texas; her grandchildren, Theresa, Ross, and Jill Clevenger; great granddaughter, Madison Clevenger; and, several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment in the Union Cemetery, near Lawson, Missouri.
