Jacob married Susannah Heisey in Lancaster Co., PA. Jacob and Susannah had 12 children; 9 living 1879: C. H. Garver, David H. Garver and Samuel H. Garver, in Whitmore Township, Daniel H. Garver, at Argenta, Macon county, John H. Carver, at Cerro Gordo, Piatt county, and Abraham H. Garver, at Westfield, Clark Co., and three in Kansas-Susan Johnson, Barbara Rogers and Mary Wallack.

Died at a Ripe Old Age.—News has been received in Decatur of the death of the venerable Jacob Garver, a former resident of this county, which occurred at Iola, Kansas, on March 1st, aged 89 years, 7 months and 11 days. The deceased came to Macon county in 1839, and went to Kansas in 1872. He was the father of Supervisor C. H. Garver, of Whitmore township; J. H. Garver, of Cerro Gordo; David H., Daniel H., and Abram Garver, of Argenta. The body will be brought to Macon County for final burial in the course of a few weeks.
