Montanans Die In Icy River Couple's Vehicle Careens Into Stream GREAT FALLS bodies of a Great Falls man and his wife trapped when their car careened off U.S Highway 91 were recovered Thursday from the Missouri River Cascade County Sheriff D J Leeper identified the victims as Oliver Spencer 69 and his wife Dora GS The couple's car went out of control as they attempted to pass a semitrailer on a curve about eight miles north of Craig near the Gary Cooper ranch Leeper said The car sideswiped the left rear wheels of the semitrailer went through the guard rails and off the highway turning half way over It then hit the bank upside down and landed on its wheels 50 feet from the edge of the road in the Missouri River Edwin Sapp driver of the semi trailer said he was driving about 40 miles an hour at the time He waited by the the highway patrol arrived Sheriff Leeper and Patrolman Al Fousek headed a crew that worked all night to re cover the car from the icy river in freezing temperatures The car's lights could be seen still burning beneath the water The Spencers were returning from a vacation in Arizona. Spencer was a partner in a paint and interior decorating shop with his son William The accident occurred at about p.m Wednesday
