He was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute, Harvard University Law School and National Law School. He succeeded his father [Conrad Hunt SYME (1868-1945)] as professor at National University.
In 1942 he entered the Army as a member of Lt. Gen. George S. Patton's staff and died in the "Line Of Duty" while in service in N. Africa and Sicily. He was awarded the "Legion Of Merit".
Samuel was first interred in the El Alia Cemetery, Algiers, Algeria. He was later interred here in Arlington on February 18, 1949.
