Died LEEDS COUNTY

Catherine was married first to a Mr Royce (sometimes spelled Rice), whose given name may have been Richard, and second to Francis Fortune.

Described as one of "The Women Weavers of the Township of Front of Escott" (2004) by MJ Barrett, Catherine produced 189 yards of wool flannel for sale in the 12 month period ending April 2 1871. .Her daughters Jane Fortune and Sarah Jane Nunn were also weavers who produced goods for sale in the same period.

Re year of birth, : Although the age at death as inscribed on the headstone indicates she was born 1807, earlier records suggest Catherine was younger than 95 at the time of her death, born as late as 1811 or 1812.
