According to correspondence with family members a number of years ago, he died in the crash of a commercial airliner.

Per newspapers.com, his wife Crystal filed a $2M lawsuit against Alaska Airlines. Her husband was on flight #1866. The crash occurred on approach for landing and the plane struck a mountain, killed 111 people.
