Wash Machine Causes Death This Monday
Hair Catches in Rollers, Mrs. Geo. Leonard Found by Son

Mrs. George Leonard, aged 48, of near here, met death accidentally at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home when her hair became caught in the electric ringer of a washing machine she was using, and caused her neck to be broken. Mrs. Leonard, who was alone at the time of the accident, was found by her six year old son Roy when he returned from the Rockville school. He ran back to the school and told his 12 year old sister, Priscilla. Mr. Leonard who was doing carpentering in Kiel was notified and coming to his home, found the electric ringer still running. Mrs. Leonard was dead at the time her body was discovered. Manitowoc county coroner, Gerald Rau, pronounced the tragedy as accidental.

Mrs. Leonard, before her marriage Miss Ida Strade, was born on a farm in Louis Corners, Jan. 1, 1886, the daughter of Mrs. August Strade and August Strade, deceased. She was married to George Leonard of Rockville November 7, 1908, the couple locating directly in Rockville where they have since resided.

Survivors are her husband and six children, Harvey of Rockville, Everett of near Kiel. Mrs. Arno (Dorothy) Ruh, of near Kiel, Helen of Sheboygan, and Priscilla and Roy at home; her aged mother, Mrs. August Strade of Millhome, and two brothers, Otto of Millhome and Herman of Louis Corners.

Mrs. Leonard was a member of the Ladies' Aid Society of the St. Peter Reformed church. - 1934
