Dad was born on the homestead in Casheloogary, County Donegal, Ireland in 1892. Son of James Seamus Gallagher and Elizabeth "Bessie" Sweeney. Dad always said his birthdate was 3/4/1892 but his Birth Certificate says 8/28/1892

Dad came to the US, Nov. 17, 1912. Settled in Charlo, Montana and married Helen Loretta Gilruth on Dec. 4, 1918, St. Francis Xavier Church in Missoula Co., Missoula, MT. They had 12 children.

Email from Monica Dignam Balkema who just visited this last June 2009.

Cashelogary is just now a wide spot in an unpaved lane. It seems to consist primarily now of sheep fields but the house from which your father and my grandfather emerged is a poignant ruins at the end of 'Gallagher's Lane", a name that the current owner a man by the name of Peter seems to continue to use.

"Family"
No One is ever Born into Life Alone...
Each one of us has shared the bond of Family.
A bond which will follow us throughout Life.
'Tis the most important bond of All.
For there is no Life without Family.

Family ties are precious things Woven through the years Of memories of togetherness, Of laughter, love and tears. Family ties are cherished things, Forged in childhood days,
By love of parents, deep and true, By tradition and family ways. Family ties are treasured things And far though we may roam, The tender bond with those we love Still pulls our heart towards home.
