Mrs. John Cashman died at her home in this city last Friday morning after an illness of several weeks. Early in September she contracted a cold which settled on her lungs and although it was not considered dangerous it was slowly sapping out the young life which so bravely fought it. Alice Cashman nee Renshaw was born in this Township about 29 years ago. While yet an infant her mother died but she received the tender care of a foster mother and until recent years did not know of her early loss. When she was about 10 years old she moved with her parents to South Dakota and remained there until she had grown to womanhood when she returned to Apple River and was engaged as assistant in the Post Office this position she filled until about three years ago when she was united in marriage Mr. John Cashman of the city. This union was blessed by one child which preceded its mother to the grave nearly a year. Mrs. Cashman was one of those kindly women who make many friends; a faithful loving wife, it is indeed sad that one in the very bloom of life should be taken away and the home ties broken. She was a member of the Sunday school in Epworth league and had long been identified as an active worker in the M.E. church. The funeral services conducted by Reverend McKittrick were held in the M.E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock we're a vast congregation was present to pay their tribute to the deceased the bereaved husband and surviving relatives have the sympathy of the community.
