Born June 14, 1936 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, Germany to Eduard Franz Tschiggfrey and Elisabeth (Kratzmueller) who preceded him in death. Frank succumbed to cancer on March 31, 2003, at home surrounded by his family.
After completing his apprenticeship Frank emigrated from Munich, Germany in 1957 to Detroit, MI. He began employment in 1958 at Plt. #21 Fisher Body, Detroit as a tool maker. After 25 years he was transferred to Lansing, MI to Plt. #6 B.O.C. General Motors where he retired in 1999.
He was an active charter member in The Oscoda County Genealogical Society and past owner with his wife, of Cottage Accent & Garden in Mio, MI.
Frank married Alice ''Jean'' Poma on August 1, 1960. He is the father of five children, grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of three.
They are: Monica (Larry) Wilkie, their children Nicholas (Elaine) Wilkie, their children: Matthew, Alysa, and Bridget Wilkie and Edward Tschiggfrey (Brooke), their children: Joshua, Shelby and Kyle all of Richmond, MI. Frank D. Tschiggfrey (Cindee) of Mio, MI. Amy (Mark) Stygles, their children: David, Justin and Michael of Dewitt, MI. and Lola Tschiggfrey of Orion, MI. He was the eldest of 2 surviving brothers, Herbert (Mary Anne) Tschiggfrey of St. Clair Shores, MI. and Klaus (Francis) Tschiggfrey of Tallahassee, FL. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Visitation 1-9 p.m. Wednesday, with prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Lashley Funeral Home MIO, MI. Mr. Tschiggfrey will be taken to St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio on Thursday, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass 11 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at the church. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow the Mass. Memorials donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan, envelopes available at the funeral home.
