Nelson Bellesheim (Nels) passed away at the Community Medical Center Hospice Unit in Toms River, New Jersey on February 4, 2008.

Nels grew up in Mount Vernon, New York, where he was graduated from AB Davis High School in 1943. He then went into the US Navy before coming to Dartmouth where he and his wife Betty lived in Wigwam Circle. His son Nelson Jr. was born at Mary Hitchcock Hospital during Nels' graduation year. Nels went on to Thayer School and got his M.S. in 1952, after which he wnt to work for the Otis Elevator Company in Yonkers, New York. He was with Otis for 37 years.

He and Betty lived for many years in Paramus, New Jersey where, besides Nelson Jr., they raised Karen, Susan, Lynn and Douglas. They eventually moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and then Nels retired from Otis in 1987 to Toms River, New Jersey. Nels stayed active after retirement, serving as an Emergency Medical Technician for Silver Ridge Park River. He was a Rotarian and a Mason, a Board of Education President in Paramus and a Cub Scout Master. He and Betty loved to travel in their RV and visited every state in the lower 48.

Their five children blessed them with 15 grandchildren.

Nels loved Dartmouth and Thayer and, In the 25th reunion book, Nels stated that he never missed a class reunion.
