Mrs. William Bowman
Mrs. Wm Bowman, 80y., 5 m., 4 d., for many years a resident of this vicinity, died Friday morning at 2 o’clock 17 Feb 1928, at the home of her son Roy where she had resided for the last two years, her death resulting from old age complications. Candace Mary Farr was born at Jurdan, Canada, on 13 Sept 1847, and came to Maquoketa, Iowa with her parents when she was 6 years old. She married William Bowman on Sept. 30, 1889, and to this union nine children were born, one whom, Edgar Sheldon, died four weeks ago. Those living are Mrs. J.E. Ayres, St Paul, Minn.; D.J. and C.P. Bowman, Chillicothe, Mo.; M.W. Bowman Columbus, Neb.; E.S. Bowman, Wisner, Neb.; Mrs. Dellas Gibson, Blanchard, Iowa; Mrs. John Culp and Roy Bowman, Villisca. Besides her children she leaves also one sister and two brothers. Her husband preceded her in death. Her body was taken to the A.B. Wolf funeral home where the funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton in charge of the service. The singing was by Mr.and Mrs. F.E. Shane, Roy B. Means and Miss Slyvin Enarson, with Miss Mildred Hanks at the piano. The pallbearer were Roy, Claude, Everard, Max and Wilmont Bowman and Dellas Gibson, and interment was in the Villisca cemetery.
