JOEY GREENWELL, 60, Bardstown, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 2, 1948 in New Haven. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Preparatory School and a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He retired from Jim Beam Distillery after 34 years of service and was a member of St. Gregory Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Chester and Mary Adelene Downs Greenwell. Survivors include his wife, Laura Greenwell; two daughters, Kimberly Greenwell, Louisville, and Cynthia Gilpin, Bardstown; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Brenda Clark, Boston, and Earlene Woeste, Louisville; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Gregory Church with burial in St. Gregory Cemetery. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday including an evening prayer service and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County, 111 N. Third St., Bardstown, KY 40004. Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
