Edward Ellington Russell, 85 lifelong farmer, succumbed to a year's illness yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Wright, at Sandy Hook.

Son of the late Ellington and Millie Hare Russell, he was born and reared in this county and had resided near Sandy Hook all his life.

He was a member of the Baptist Church from early liffe.

He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Albert Wright, Mrs. Lela Cothran and Mrs. Ollie B. Garner of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Leon Sims of Nashville; his sons, Garfield Russell of Mt. Pleasant and Joe T. Russell of Columbia and 24 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Wright, with the Rev. Clyde Burke and the Rev. W. S. Kelley officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jack Cothran, Russell Cothran, William Allen, LeRoy Garner, Paul Simms and Eddie Frank Russell.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
