The following—sketch—td-, the life of Rev. Elias Studebaker, an aged
minister of the Lutheran demonination, whose death we briefly noticed
recently, was sent to us afterward but too late for publication: Rev.
Elias Studebake was born in 1825 in Lyon Township about one mile
from Ground Oak Church, and died at the residence of his son, George,
in Baltimore, May 13. He was a graduate of Wittenburg College, Springfield. Ohio, and afterward held ministerial appointments in Pennsylvania,
Tennessee, and Kentucky. He and his s»ns. for a number' of years, conducted a private Academy in Virginia.

Rev. Studebaker was always a student. When he was nearly 80 years
old he began the study of Spanish and before his death had made considerable progress with the language.
His remains were brought to this place for burial. He is survived by two sons. George, of Baltimore, and Burrell, of Denver, Colorado. Also by one sister, Miss Amanda Studebaker, of this place.
