GALESBURG - Roger R. Anderson Sr., 70, 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 11:35 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at home.

He was born June 22, 1939, in Galesburg, the son of Elwood and Harriet Virginia Reed Anderson. He married Sally Jo Rutledge on June 27, 1964, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death July 16, 1994.

He is survived by a son, Roger R. (and Alicia) Anderson Jr., and a daughter, Angela J. (and Marvin) Masters, both of Galesburg; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five brothers; and 10 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Michael in 1970; a grandson, Michael Masters in 1986; two brothers, Gary and Timmy; and a sister, Sara.

Roger was a foundry worker for more than 30 years at Galesburg Malleable and then Aluminum Castings. He flew homing pigeons, enjoyed fishing and was a sports fan of the Packers, Braves and Tar Heels.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in East Linwood Cemetery. Rev. Ron Scarlett will officiate. Visitation will be noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
