Bill was one of three children and the only son of William and Mandy Vires. Both of his parents died and he and his sisters were sent to family then later taken and placed in an orphanage in North Carolina. He and his sisters never knew where or what happened to their parents.

Bill was a tank comander under George S. Patton, Jr. command in WWII. He was wounded 3 times. He had 3 purple hearts and a bronze star. He was a WWII Veteran. He worked for the Ford Motor Co. in New Jersey for 40 years. Bill was a retired traffic coordinator for Ford motor Company.
