Annie Mildred (Millie) Medford, formerly of Cherokee, Ala., departed this life March 5, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was a former cosmetologist in Cherokee and had many friends and relatives. She was always happy and loved being surrounded by her family. She was a caring and compassionate mom. Mrs. Medford was a member of Lane Springs Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Morrison Funeral Home chapel, Cherokee, with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Harris Chapel Cemetery. Brother Dwight Rivers will officiate.

Pallbearers are Garrett Cuthbertson, Elijah Hester, Cole Cuthbertson, Jason Borden, Nick Maze and Kyle Cuthbertson. Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Borden and Sam Harper.

Mrs. Medford was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Earnest (Pat) Medford; father, James (Jim) Borden; mother, Plina Cynthia Collum Borden; brothers, Lacy, Ervin, Thomas, James and Conard; and sisters, Bessie Rutland, Gladys Curry, Mable Williams and Mary (Lib) Haswell.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Medford and wife, Robbie, of Mars Hill, N.C.; daughter, Brenda Holley and husband, Larry, of Iuka, Miss.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
