Warren P. Bissell passed away at

his home in Manchester, Iowa, Thursday

morning, March 30, 1911, as a

result of paralysis agitans, at the age

of 73 years. Mr. Bissell had been in

failing health for the past two years

and his final illness was of six months

duration. A brief funeral service was

held from the residence last Friday

at 2 p. m. at which Rev. Moore of

Manchester, and Rev. Sutherland, of

Ames, Iowa, officiated. The body was

brought to Medford accompanied by

Mrs. Florence Bissell and son Warren

Mr. Webb a nephew, and Mr. Sanborn,

a brother to Mrs. Bissell and

Rev. W. L. Sutherland who conducted

the services at the Congregational

church at 11 a. m. last Sunday. Interment

was at the Union cemetery.

Warren Pitt Bissell was born Nov.

21, 1837, at Avon, Conn., and in 1856

removed to Medford, Minn. August

11, 1862 he enlisted in Cp. A., 10th

Minn. Inf., and served his country

faithfully, being honorably discharged

May 25th, 1865. On June 28,

1865, at Medford, he was married to

the late Almira Stebbins, who died

September 25, 1878, no children having

been born to this union. On November

8, 1893, Mr. Bissell was married

to Florence Sanborn at Sterling,

Minn., and to them one son, Warren

S. Bissell, now 14 years old, was

born. Mr. Bissell lived in Medford

until 1891 when he moved to Oneida,

Iowa, and settled on a farm near that

village. In October, 1909 the family

moved to Manchester where they have

since resided. Mr. Bissell was a member

of -Tadmor lodge A. F. & A. M.

of Greeley and of W. A. Morris Post

of Manchester. While not a member

of any religious organization he affiliated

with the Congregational church.

During his residence in Minnesota,

Mr. Bissell took an active interest in

the affairs of his country. He served

two years on the board of equalization

and held other positions of trust.

He was a man of excellent judgment

and being a great reader was familiar

with the topics of the day. Bearing

an honorable name he lived a life to

be envied by his fellow man. If all

men had the welfare of his country

at heart as Mr. Bissell did this would

be a better world. Mr. Bissell leaves

a host of very warm friends to mourn

their loss..
