Clifton was the S/O Rufus Hern & Lula Madden Rouse. He worked in construction as a building contractor for Turner & McInnis Construction Co, and for Oden Construction Co. He was a supervisor of construction in the building of several Army bases. He also worked for many years for Gulf Refinery and had several Gulf Service stations.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home chapel for C. D. Rouse, Sr., 73, of Rt. 9 Hattiesburg, who died early this morning, August 5, 1980, at Forrest General Hospital of heart failure.
The Rev. Doyle Madden will officiate with burial in the Dixie Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Irene Barrett-Rouse and daughter Annie Elizabeth Rouse. Clifton and Grace were married for 47 years. They married June 30, 1928.
Survivors include one son, Clifton Dennis (Sonny) (Francis) Rouse, Jr. of Hattiesburg, two daughters, Linda Dell (Norvel) Cochran and Sarah Louise (Franklin) Morrow, both of Hattiesburg, six grandchildren, four great-great-children; one sister, Mrs. Eunice Smith of DeFuniak Springs, Fla; one brother Preston W. Rouse of Hattiesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be after 4 p. m. today at the funeral home.
