Paul Crockett Compton Jr. HONAKER, Va.

Mr. Paul Crockett Compton Jr., age 66, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 12, 2010. in a Richlands, Va., hospital after a short battle with cancer and other long term illnesses.

Born September 4, 1943, in Honaker, Va., he was a son of the late Paul Compton Sr. and Ellen Musick Compton. He had spent most of his life in the area and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He loved to farm, work with cattle, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Willis and June Harris; and two brothers, Carl Henry Compton and Billie Lee Compton.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Catherine "Susie" McGlothlin Compton; one son, Jerry Wayne Compton of Honaker; three daughters, Ms. Paula Sharon Cook and Mrs. Donald (Lisa) Blankenship both of Honaker and Mrs. William (Debra) Jennings III of Kingsport, Tenn.; five very special grandchildren, Lindsey Blankenship, Lauren Blankenship, Khirsten Cook, Channing Cook and Alexis Jennings; two brothers, Charles Compton of Chesterfield, Va., and Sherman Compton of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Lola Pearl Seagroves of North Carolina and Mrs. Eddie (Irene) Scott of Chesapeake; one brother-in-law, Leroy Willis of Chester, Va.; one very special cousin, Naamon Coleman of Pikeville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Peerman Lester and Rev. Fairley Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Va. Pallbearers will be Channing Cook, Troy Lester, Audrey Lester, Charles Compton, Jeffery Compton, Frank Compton and Johnny Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Foster Compton , Mitchell Harris, Naamon Coleman, Dr. William Hunter and members of the Bandy Hunting Club.
