Thomas was born July 6, 1880 in Randolph County, North Carolina to loving Quaker parents Michael Spencer and Ann Jane Hill Spencer. Irene was born April 12, 1883, to Aaron Alsbury Davidson and Martha Nicey (Wadsworth) Davidson both of Moore County, NC. Irene's parents, Aaron Alsbury Davidson and Martha Nicey Wadsworth, were married on May 10, 1877, in Moore County, North Carolina.
