Mrs. Lulu (Fred) Poffenberger Passes Away

Word came to local relatives Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Fred Poffenberger, aged 80, of Norwalk. She had been in rather poor health for several years and quite ill in the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for the past five weeks. The Poffenbergers lived in Community Center most of their lives until they moved to Norwalk about 34 years ago. She leaves her husband, and children, Darline Howlett of Southside Des Moines, Clyde and Harry of Des Moines, Glenn of Altoona, Verle of St. Paul, Minnesota, Joan Hoover of West Des Moines and Velma Davis of Urbandale. One son, Lloyd passed away several years ago in Oklahoma. Mr. Poffenberger is a brother of Mr. Albert Poffenberger, Mrs. Archie Dillon and Mrs. Ethan Myers of Adel.

Memorial services were held Thursday afternoon in Dunn's South Side Funeral Home in Des Moines with interment in the Highland Memorial Gardens. Among those who attended from here were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Poffenberger, Mrs. Leslie Powers and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mleynek, Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Myers, Mrs. Archie Dillon, Mrs. Margaret Daugherty, Kenneth Myers, Mrs. Burt Garrett, Mrs. Dale Wicks, Mrs. Ira Stine, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith, Mr. Irl Walker, Mrs. Mabel Book, Lee Myers, Carl Myers and Fred York.
