~OBITUARY OF MRS. MARTHA ANGIE COX

Mrs. Martha Angie COX, 71, and her husband, age 74, were found dead in their home, 718 Southwest Third Avenue, last Saturday morning. Their lifeless bodies were discovered early Saturday morning by their son, O. O. COX, owner of the Perryton Equipment Company.

Mr. COX went by the home of his parents, expecting to take them to Amarillo. When they did not answer his call, he went into the house. Cause of death was asphyxiation from fumes from a natural gas stove. Time of death is uncertain, but it was probably late Friday evening.

Survivors include three sons: O. O. COX, Perryton; E. R. COX, Texhoma, formerly of Amarillo and Perryton; and Chester C. COX, an Army Engineer stationed on the West Coast. In addition there are four grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Mrs. COX is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Rachel HINES, and two brothers, Robert and Luke LEE, all of Ray County, Missouri.

A joint Funeral Service was conducted at the First Christian Church, Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock with Rev. Ward H. N. Gregg officiating. The funeral arrangements were under the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Interment was in the Ochiltree Cemetery.

Vocal selections at the service were by a quartet composed of Mrs. Carl Ellis, Mrs. Debs Riley, J. F. Herndon and Sam Hergert, accompanied by Mrs. A. K. Wilson.

Pallbearers for Mrs. COX were Elton WALKER, Creed WALKER, C. E. CLINE, W. W. BROWN, S. L. BRILLHART and Tom EVANS.

Pallbearers for Mr. COX were A. K. WILSON, Dewey R. ALLEN, Howard HOLT, Alfred PITTMAN, Claude SCHELL and S. P. WHIPPO.

Mr. and Mrs. COX were born in Ray County, Missouri. Mrs. COX born Martha Angie LEE on January 04, 1874, was almost 71 years old when she passed away. Mr. COX, born Henry Luther COX on October 29, 1870 was just a few days past his 74th birthday.

They were married December 31, 1890, almost 54 years ago. He was a very devoted father and husband, always holding his family the high ideals of a pure life. She was a devoted mother and wife of unlimited faith in her God as well as her fellowman.

In 1904, the COX family moved to Eastern Oklahoma where they resided for three years before going to Tucumcari and Clovis, New Mexico area where they lived a very happy life for 35 years.

They moved to Perryton a few months ago from New Mexico and established a home.
