He was born in 1927 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Peter joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from high school. Upon his honorable discharge in 1955, he then joined the U.S. Post Office in Denver, Colo. as a Tabulating Operations Supervisor, and later accepted the position of Regional Accountant. After transfers to Portland, Ore., and Seattle, Wash. (during which time he earned several awards and recognition from then Assistant Postmaster General Ralph Nicholson), he accepted the position of Director of Data Operations at the Postal Data Center in San Francisco. While there, he was eventually promoted to General Manager of Management Services. He retired after 35 years of government service and moved with his wife to Fairfield.

Peter was a loving husband and a devoted father to his five daughters. He was a patient, kind, and compassionate man, and was respected by those who knew him. He was an active member of his church. He also enjoyed golf and weekly trips to Cache Creek. Peter was a cancer survivor and strong supporter of the American Cancer Society.

Peter is survived by Tillie, his wife of 59 years; daughters, Suzanne (the late Alan Krosnick), Laura (Victor Flaviani), and Patricia Diaz; brothers, Henry, Adolph, and Frank Diaz; sisters, Alice Castillo and Louise Casillas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Terri and Chrissie; his brother, Joe; and his sisters, Emily, Lily, and Jessie.

Viewing will take place from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 18, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A celebration of Peter's life will take place with a mass at 11 a.m., Friday, March 19, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 2700 Dover Avenue, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Fairmont Memorial Park, 1901 Union Avenue, Fairfield. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
