Mr. W. J. Beck, age 88 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield.
Born Monday, April 11, 1921 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Joe Beck and the late Mary Barnes Beck. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joe Beck, and sister, Gladys Connor.
Mr. Beck was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his sister, Vera Allbritton of Winnfield, LA; Nieces, Eunice Beck of Winnfield, Betty Joe Carpenter and husband Raymond of Winnfield, Carolyn Hill of Taylor, TX, Claudia Machen McBride and husband Jerold of Winnfield, Mary Jo New and husband Pete of Lafayette; nephew, James Beck of Winnfield, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 22, 2010 at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with the Rev. Jerold McBride and Rev. John Holland officiating. Interment will be in Winnfield City Cemetery, Winnfield, LA.
Duane Carpenter, Devon Carpenter, Roy Sanders, Thomas Ray Berry, Matt Machen, and Eric Morvan will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Smart, Bill Berry, and Thomas Williams.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, March 21, 2010 and from 8:00 AM until service time on Monday at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield.
