bituary, May 29, 1985, The State News, page 4-E; Oliver H. Joyner - Oliver Harold Joyner, 59, of Route 3, Blythewood, died Tuesday. Born in Atlanta, he was a son of the late Oliver Hickman Joyner and Lottie Player Joyner Black. He was an employee with the Clemson Livestock and Poultry Laboratory. Mr. Joyner was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Columbia Third Ward, former president of the Winnsboro branch and former bishop of Columbia Second Ward of the church. He was also a former Explorer post leader of the Boy Scouts. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jewell Branham Joyner; a son, Dale Joyner of Garland, Texas; daughters, Miss Marlene Joyner of Blythewood and Mrs. Maureen Mayo of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Freebairn of Salt Lake City; brothers, Jack and Clifford Joyner of Decatur, GA., and Lilburn Joyner of West Columbia and grandsons. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Columbia Third Ward, conducted by Bishop Joseph L. Nice. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Talbert-Shives Funeral Home.
