Married Harriet Eliza Aylor on February 13.1962 in Madison County. He was the son of Abramham Isaac Blankenbaker and Rosa Ann Frances Utz.
He enlisted at age 18 in the Civil War, was wounded and paroled 5-24-1965 in Richmond, Virginia.He served in Company C, 4th Virginia Cavalry, "The Madison Invincibles".

Obituary

Mr. John A. Blankenbaker, a prominent citizen of the county, and an ex-Confederate soldier, died suddenly at his home near Dunnavant. A wife and seven children survive him.
