Nancy married Jay Hoover in September of 1972 and in April of 1973 they became parents of a daughter, Kristina Lynn. Nancy worked at Underwood Fruit as office manager for the past 20 years. For 18 years she was also the caretaker for the Underwood Community Center, where she met many people and made lots of friends. Nancy always had a smile on her face no matter what kind of day she was having.
Nancy enjoyed spending her free time in her yard. She loved flowers and plants and making her yard beautiful. In 1992, her "Sunshine," Brittany Lynn was born. They bonded from the moment their eyes met. Nancy did everything for her. She was such a proud grandma. Brittany and Nancy went to Long Beach, Wash., every year for three or four days — just the two of them — and on hot days they would pack up and head to Big Cedars. They were each other's life.
In 2002, Nancy's "Little Man," Kaleb Robert was born, making her an even prouder grandma. She was there for the births of both her grandchildren. She made so many memories with them and taught them both so much.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kristina Lynn Hoover, and grandchildren Brittany Lynn and Kaleb Robert, all of Hood River; her father, Robert Morby, of Underwood, Wash.; her sister and brother-in-law, Bev Browning and Lee of Dufur; her brothers and their wives: Don Morby and Kim of Mill A, Wash., and Rob Morby and Mary of Ferndale, Wash.; best friend Ginger Norconk, of Beaverton, Ore.; her special man Eduardo Vargas, of White Salmon, Wash.; many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and lots of friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and best friend, Betty J. Morby.
Nancy touched many lives and had so many friends whom she loved so much. She always cherished every memory she made. She will be forever missed.
A funeral service for Nancy was held on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Underwood Community Center with vault interment at Chris Zada Cemetery in Underwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nancy Hoover Memorial Fund, which will benefit her beloved grandchildren, at Sterling Savings Bank, P.O. Box 67, White Salmon, WA 98672. Gardner Funeral Home handled arrangements.
