CHARLES (WES) ANDERSON

Charles (Wes) Anderson, son of John and Louisa Anderson, was born September 6, 1886 at Kearney, Nebr., and died May 9, 1965 at the age of 78 years.

He was married to Ida Gill on May 12, 1908, in Lucas, Ia., and she passed away on September 1, 1923. He was again married to Maggie Harp on Oct. 19, 1926 in Chariton. He had worked in the Lucas county coal mines for 44 years.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Ida; a daughter, Arlene, who died at 14 years of age; an infant son, Wilbur; and eleven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie, eight children, Ralph Wesley Anderson of Chariton; Kenneth Wayne Anderson of Knoxville; Mrs. Rex (Evelyn) Heck of Newton; Harold E. Anderson of Carlisle; Mrs. Jim (Marjorie) Irving of Chariton; Donald L. Anderson of Chariton; Mrs. Larry (Betty) McKnight of Des Moines; and Marilyn Runnells of Chariton.

He is also survived by three step-children, Mrs. Dorothy Pack of Melcher; Mrs. Maxine Maxwell of Des Moines; William G. Geagley of Maryville, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Mundell of Derby; thirty-seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted at the Miley Chapel Tuesday, June 1, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. John Bauserman officiating. Interment was at the Chariton cemetery.
