"Mr. T. J. Turner of Tallapoosa, Ga., but who made his home in 1947 with his son, Mr. A. D. Turner, in Jasper, died Saturday" [27 Mar 1948] "at an Atlanta hospital at the age of 68.
"Mr. Turner was a native of Cleaburne" [sic] "County, Ala., but had lived in Tallapoosa for a number of years except for the time spent in Jasper. He had been in bad health about five years and was bedridden about six weeks.
"He was a deacon in the Baptist church and a Mason, and during the short time he resided here won the respect of all he met.
"He leaves his wife, four sons and two daughters, Mr. J. M. Turner, of Gadsden, Ala.; Mr. Henry Turner, of Spartanburg, S.C.; Mr. George Turner, of Gadsden, Mr. A. D. Turner, of Jasper; Mrs. J. R. Fielder and Mrs. Frank Ray, both of Tallapoosa.
"Funeral services were held at Concord church in Alabama Sunday, with Rev. R. M. Bates and Rev. D. B. Bobo officiating ministers. One hundred Masons participated in the burial ritual."
