Walter Lee "Buddy" McGauley Sr., age 68, of Jasper, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Shands at U.F. in Gainesville following an extended illness. Buddy was born in Hamilton County, Fla., on Jan. 24, 1940, to the late Hanceford and Edna Mercer McGauley. He worked for a number of years at Evans Products. Buddy then made a career in law enforcement working with the State of Florida Department of Corrections and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Survivors include his two sons, Walter Lee "Beaver" McGauley, Jr., Lake City, Fla., and Chris McGauley (Vicki), Jasper, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryl Kick (Chris), Lake City, Fla., and Lori Ann McGauley, Jasper, Fla.; stepson, Robert D. Mitchell, Jr. and two step-daughters, Stephanie Mitchell and Willa Phillips (Trent), all of Leesburg, Fla.; three brothers, James "Jimmy" McGauley (Jean), Jacksonville, Fla., Carl McGauley (Nancy), Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Leon McGauley (Gloria), Jasper, Fla.; two sisters, Jean Fralick, Jasper, FL. and Lana Wisenbaker (Peyton), Jennings, Fla.; seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Harvest Fellowship Church in Jasper.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CaringBridge 1715 Yankee Doodle Road Suite 301 Eagan, MN 55121.
