Victor Joseph LaFont, Sr of Claremont, NH died February 21, 2008 at the Sullivan County Health Care in Unity. He was a native and life long resident of Claremont, born on May 27, 1926 the son of Arthur J. and Elvia (Hamel) LaFont.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.
He worked for Jones & Lamson Machine Company as a machinist for 31 years having retired in 1982. Victor was a member of the American Legion in Windsor, VT.
He married Rita Dorothy LaFont on August 2, 1947 and she died on March 8, 1995.
Members of the family include four sons, Victor J LaFont, Jr of Claremont, Donald E LaFont of Enfield, Michael S LaFont of Claremont, James A LaFont of Claremont; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Armand J and Arthur "Joe" LaFont, both of Claremont; three sisters, Evelyn Colby of Newport, Leona Gagnon of Ascutney, VT, Lorraine Kees of Croydon, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by three brothers, Ted LaFont, Ray LaFont, Emile J. LaFont; one sister, Doris Roberts.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
