William was the son of Silas Carney and wife Lucinda FISHER. He was married 3 different times, 1st to Ellen M. MEEKS, 2nd to Nancy Emeline Sidney Melton, and third to Luzannia Alice WOODALL.

William and Luzannia were my grandparents when their daughter Vella Bell CARNEY married Joe W. Derrick and
they became my parents when I was born to them in 1930
in Charleston, WV. and was their only child.

I always wanted brothers and sisters, but that never happened.

There were two children by Sidney, and eight by Luzannia. They had lived at Liberty, WV (Putnam Co.) and had a general merchandise store there. After moving to Charleston, WV.(Kanawha County,) on the west side, he opened a furniture store on West Washington St.

The drawing of one side of Liberty was done by James Otis Bumgardner.
