Estie Ilene Ross Browning was know to her friends as Ilene, to her children as Mama and her grandchildren as Grandma or Ma. Ilene grew during the throes of depression and had always thankful to her parents who taught her how to survive during those tough times, while keeping a sense of humor.
She first married Milton Morgan (Arkansas) when she was 19. Later marrying A J Farris (Alba Tx) and at the time of her death she was married to J W Browning (Dallas, Tx.) after 43 years if narruage She and J W shared the rearing of their childre:

Ilene spent her life taking care of people. She worked as a waitress in Dallas at many restaurants, including Adair's, Brownie's, Anderson's, El Rancho, and finally Grove Restaurant. She helped take care of her mother who died of cancer. She raised 0 children and many grand children. Until she could no longer walk, she cooked and cared for her friends whom she considered to be in worse health than she.
Ilene had been brought up in the Church of Christ and could quote scripture, chapter and verse. She considered a true Christian to be "Christ-like" - To attempt to act as Christ didi. Her first tenant was unconditional love. She would be the first to tell she was not perfect and she never expected perfection from someone else. However, whe she loved shomeone, she chose to praise the good and forgive the bad.
