Carrie Rogers of Corsicana, Texas was borne to eternal life March 19, 2010, at the age of 92. She is the daughter of Pearl B. Daniels and Joe Graves. Carrie and her husband Claude were owners of R&M Shoe Shop on Beaton Street.

She is the cherished wife of the late WWII veteran Claude C. Rogers, who preceded her in death in 1970. Beloved Mother of Charlie and Jeanette Rogers of Corsicana, Jimmie and Tommie Rogers of Mabank, and Dorothy Cantrell of Navarro.

Carrie, lovingly referred to as "Big Mama" by all who knew and loved her, will be missed by grandchildren Dr. Ricky and Debbie Rogers, Ronda Daniel, Robbi Rogers, Randy Rogers, Paula and Richard Ward, Tammy and Dwane Slate, Tommy (Bubba) and Tammy Cantrell, Terri and Ronald Sykes and Eddie and Debra Gregory. She is survived by her sister, Corrine Blackwell, 21 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Big Mama's passion for family and children touched the lives of many people. This was evident every day as she began her morning teaching her grandchildren to read, write and tell time at an early age. Her dedication instilled a lifelong love of learning and a sense of pride in the children she cared for. As her grandchildren grew into adults, her enthusiasm soon spread throughout the community as she volunteered and instructed at local elementary schools and at Whiz Kids Day Care in Ennis, Texas. She was an avid reader.

Her strength, wisdom and love of family and children have always made us proud to say, "We belong to Big Mama."

Visitation will be Sunday, March 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Big Mama's funeral service will be a graveside service Monday, March 22, at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor David Alexander will officiate.
