Flora was about five feet three inches tall, never weighted more than 140 pounds, had red hair and light blue eyes. She broke her nose while ice skating when she was a teenager. She was an outstanding housewife and mother. She understood how to use herbs for medicine and would collect and store them. She was a good mid-wife, as well as a good seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed having lots of people around and could cook for a big crowd with very little effort. She wrote a letter to one of her grand daughters and in it she told of all that she knew about her ancestors. She did this so that they, the younger generations, would know all that she knew about her family. She said, "Her father, John Nicholas Harris, was Dutch, Irish and Welsh, and that his father, William Harris, was born in the Welsh Hills of Ohio". From this important "bit" of family history, a few more ancestors were discovered. She was raised in the Eureka vicinity south of Stoy and was a member of the Eureka Church, but later went to Seeds Chapel Methodist Church. She moved to Oblong about 1938 or 39 after becoming a widow, and her daughter, Morea, lived with her. Flora fell and broke her hip on Aug 11, 1954 and died on Aug 25, 1954. She and Arley are buried in the Oblong Cemetery. They were the parents of eleven children
